Eating Out in Lincoln

Eating out in Lincoln has never been better! The city boasts an abundance of cafes, restaurants and pubs to make your taste buds tingle.

Our favourite tea shops and cafes in Lincoln

Lincoln has lots of of excellent cafes to choose from. Here are some of our favourites:

Pimento Tearooms

A vegetarian café located on Steep Hill serving delicious food. For all you meat-lovers out there, please don’t be put off by the fact that this is a veggie café! The food is excellent (you really won’t miss it being meat-free), the location is superb, the atmosphere is cosy and the building itself is quaint with bags of character. The only downside is that it is on two floors and therefore may well not be suitable for those with mobility problems.

The Bookstop Café

This place a firm favourite with locals. Located on Christ’s Hospital Terrace, half way down Steep Hill, this cosy café serves excellent coffee, tea and cakes. With friendly staff, comfy sofas and book-lined walls, you’ll find the Bookstop Café a great place to relax and unwind.

Bells Tea Shop

Located on Steep Hill is this lovely, half-timbered café with a warm, welcoming feel. It has an extensive range of superb teas and coffees to choose from, as well as fantastic breakfasts and light lunches. And to finish,  how about a moreish cake or pastry?

Stoke’s High Bridge Café

An excellent all-rounder, serving delicious breakfasts, lunches, snacks and afternoon teas. Conveniently situated on the High Street, this delightful timber-framed café is the UK’s only surviving medieval building standing on a bridge!

Café Zoot

If you are wanting a more substantial lunch (or dinner), then Café Zoot is the place for you. Offering a wide variety of contemporary dishes at reasonable prices, Café Zoot is another eatery that is popular with the locals.

For an extra special treat, then how about treating yourself to a delicious Afternoon Tea? These are two of the best Afternoon Teas to be found in Lincoln:

The White Hart Hotel

Located on the beautiful Bailgate, serves a variety of delicious options including: the Classic Afternoon Tea, Pimms Afternoon Tea and the truly indulgent Champagne Decadence!  All served in the cosy Room Bar.

The Tower Hotel

Overlooking the walls of Lincoln Castle, also serves a memorable Afternoon Tea. With scrummy sandwiches, cakes, scones, and an assortment of beverages to choose from. Please note that you must book at least 4 hours beforehand.

Our favourite restaurants in Lincoln

Listed below are some of our favourite restaurants – we hope you like them too!

Ole, Ole

Located at The Lawn, an authentic Spanish tapas bar that serves wonderful tapas, sharing platters and paella. With a fantastic atmosphere and great food, you could almost imagine that you were in Spain! To ensure that you get a table, it’s always best to pre-book.

Thailand Number 1

Is the place to go for authentic Thai food in Lincoln. With an extensive menu containing delicious food and polite, helpful staff, it’s little wonder that it is very popular with locals and tourists alike.

The Reform restaurant at the Castle Hotel

An award-winning restaurant that has been described as serving ‘ fine dining at reasonable prices’. It serves contemporary European cuisine in a relaxed and friendly environment. It also serves a great Sunday Roast.

The Jew’s House

Located beautifully at the bottom of Steep Hill, it is a delightful restaurant with oodles of character serving wonderful food. If you are looking for a truly special meal, then The Jew’s House is for you.

Newport Arch Chinese Restaurant

Serves great Cantonese food in comfortable surroundings. Ideally located on Bailgate to have a gentle post-meal stroll on a summer’s evening!

Castle View Restaurant

An excellent Indian restaurant located next to Lincoln Castle’s west gate. With attentive staff and delicious food, this popular restaurant is well worth a visit.

The Electric Bar and Restaurant at the Doubletree Hilton

Offers a fine dining experience that is friendly and accommodating rather than overbearing and pretentious. The food is delicious, the staff are superb, and it has some of the best panoramic views of Lincoln from its Brayford location! What’s not to like?

A contemporary Indian restaurant serving superb food in stylish surroundings. Much loved by locals, this gem of a restaurant is a couple of miles out of the city (located on the A158 Wragby Road in North Greetwell). Try it for yourself – we’re sure you’ll be impressed!
