The Lincolnshire Show 2015

The Lincolnshire Show 2015 wrapped up today after a fantastic two days of displays, demonstrations and events.

Take a look through some of the highlights of this year’s amazing sights and sounds and get ready to plan your visit in 2016!

The Livestock events saw the best of the rest trot their stuff for the Lincolnshire Show judges. Local breeds such as the Lincoln Red pitted themselves against each other as well as breeds from all over the country to be crowned champion in a selection of categories. You can find out the results of the judges decisions here.

As well as sheep, pig and cattle shows, there were plenty of smaller critters for visitors to meet, including bats, goats, ponies, donkeys, rabbits, chickens and even a hedgehog called Andrew!

There were also a number of horse and dog shows this year, including the British Scurry and Trials Driving display and the Parade of Hounds.

Displays and Demonstrations

The Kangaroo Kid wowed the audience in the Main Ring with some amazing quad bike stunts. With a performance that included jumps, flips and wheelies, this cheeky chappie from Down Under and his team definitely gave a show to remember, especially for those lucky audience members who got to take part!

The parachute jump performed by the RAF Falcons was one of the highlights of the show. Expertly executed, the team jumped above the Main Ring and performed a series of perfectly synchronised twists and turns before coming in safely to land.

Food and Drink

You certainly won’t go hungry at the Lincolnshire Show. Think of the best Farmer’s Market you’ve ever been to and then double it! There are so many stalls to browse through, featuring local delicacies such as stuffed chine, poacher cheese, plum loaf and Lincolnshire sausages, as well as local meats, diary and sweets.

Within the Food Court you could also enjoy cookery displays from local businesses and chefs, including the Strait & Narrow, Redhill Farm and local Lincolnshire chef, Steven Bennett.

Farming Machinery

The Steam Engines on display at this year’s Lincolnshire Show are simply beautiful. The gleaming iron and brass looks amazing in the sunshine and you can get really up close to see how they work.

The Lincolnshire Show has a lot of different types of machinery on display, from vintage to modern. There is a whole area dedicated to those of you who love to take a closer look at the mechanics of agricultural and horticultural machines and plenty of helpful staff around to give you some great insights.

Local Heritage

One of the local highlights of the Lincolnshire Show 2015 was the Magna Carta display. This area was filled to bursting with displays and information on the Magna Carta and its fascinating history.

On the second day of the show, the stand has been given the ‘Best Non-Agricultural Trade Stand’ award in recognition of its excellent work at bringing history to life. The costumed characters that made up part of the display offered amazing insights into what life was like during the reign of King John.

Children’s Events

The Lincolnshire Show has a lot to offer the whole family, especially your little ones. During the two days, there were a number of events scheduled to keep children entertained, including an interactive circus, face painting, sports activities and music concerts.

In the Pipers Crisps Circus children could have a go at stilt-walking, juggling and tightrope walking! There were also petting zoo areas, a honey bee information tent complete with wax candle making and wildlife education stands where children could learn all about local animals, birds and plants.
